Overview of AAWGT’s Grant Program
Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT) funds programs that seek to improve the quality of life for women and families in Anne Arundel County. For 2020, AAWGT, a fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), is seeking applications for two types of Grants.
Regular Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000 and seek to address one or more of the following broad areas: education, health and welfare, or the prevention of and/or treatment for violence and abuse.
New for 2020 is the Fundamental Needs Grant which has a minimum of $5,000 and a maximum of $10,000 and must seek to address food insecurity, parenting support, and/or the needs of children from birth to five years. Applicant organizations for this grant may not have an annual Total Revenue of more than $100,000.
AAWGT accepts Grant applications only from 501(c)(3) organizations that have also complied with the requirements of the Maryland Solicitations Act with respect to registration.
The process begins in December with the issuance of a Call for Applications that appears on this website and is also forwarded by email to local non-profits on the CFAAC’s mailing list and AAWGT’s full mailing list. If you are an eligible 501(c)(3), and want to be on our mailing list, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Organizations wishing to apply for a Grant must do so online. The application will be posted on our website on December 2. The application deadline is 11:59pm on January 31.
Following application, teams of AAWGT members evaluate the grant applications against established AAWGT criteria in a process that includes appropriate follow-up. Involved AAWGT team members meet in a series of scheduled meetings to discuss their evaluations and select the outstanding proposals. The successful application proposals are placed on a ballot presented to all AAWGT members for voting at a meeting in May. All applicants receive notice of AAWGT’s decision concerning their application no later than mid May.
