Membership FAQ


Who are members of Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT)?

AAWGT is a nonpartisan group that welcomes women of all ages from diverse backgrounds who want to participate in its mission to improve the lives of women and families in Anne Arundel County.  The only requirement for membership is a contribution and you can easily join online following the steps on the Join Us page. The minimum annual contribution is $575.  $500 goes directly to the grants fund and an administrative fee of $75 covers operating costs .  Women age 40 or younger may pay as little as $300, with $250 allocated to the grants fund and $50 to operating costs.  Members may also opt for a lifetime membership, which requires a lump sum payment (that may be paid over 3 years) of $12,000, plus the annual administrative expense fee of $75.  You can learn more about this option here.

How much of my annual contribution is tax deductible?

In most cases, 100% of your contribution is tax-deductible.

How is my contribution used?

The majority of each membership contribution ($500 of $575 for Full Members, or $250 of $300 for Associate Members age 40 or younger) becomes part of the grant fund and is awarded in the year following the contribution. The administrative fee covers AAWGT's marketing, member outreach events, education programs and fund management fees to the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. 

How long is my commitment when I join?

Your commitment is for one year and membership renews annually on your join date.  You will be reminded by email beginning 6 weeks before your join date.

In what ways may I make payment?

After submitting your online membership application here, you will receive instructions via email regarding payment by check or credit/debit card.  All payments are handled by the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, our 'fiduciary parent'.

Checks are made payable to "Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County" with memo line of "AAWGT Membership".  Mail checks to Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, 914 Bay Ridge Road, Suite 220, Annapolis, MD 21403.  Credit/debit card payments can be made online via the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County’s website here.   Please increase your donation by an additional $20 for Full Members and $10 for Associate Members to cover a mandatory processing fee for credit/debit card payments.
